Technology vs. Good Old Fashioned Paper and Pen: What's your pick?

With technology everywhere you look and for everything you do, what is your pick?
Do you give in to technology for everything or do you still prefer to use good old fashioned paper and pen?

I'm just curious to see what everyone else prefers.

The reason why I came up with this is because I honestly prefer good old fashioned paper and pen for a lot of tasks. I have a Samsung Galaxy SII and this phone does everything, you name it and it does it. The camera on it is amazing, so I really can't complain, but no matter how much I try to use the calendar to remind me of things to do, appointments, to send out newsletters etc, I just cannot keep up with it, I prefer an actual planner where I can write things. Same goes for shopping lists. I would much rather hold a paper list in my hand while grocery shopping or shopping for supplies. It just feels weird holding my phone in my hand.

Don't get me wrong I love my phone, I use it A LOT, I keep up with social media sites and try to respond e-mails from there as much as possible. I monitor my Etsy shop, but sometimes good ol' fashioned paper and pen is all I can really use in order to be productive.

Believe it or not with a little less than $6.00 I am able to be more productive. My weekly planner cost only $1.00 at the dollar store, the yellow pad comes in a pack of 5 for $1.00 also at the dollar store, the brown pad I bought at Michaels it comes in a pack of 2 for either $1.00 or $2.00 and the pens were just laying around, but I just bought a pack on Amazon for approximately $2.25 for 12 pens.

So even if you cannot afford a smartphone and/or are on a tight budget you can be productive with these items.

What about you, what do you prefer? How do you find yourself to be more productive?

  1. I am so with you on this! I love pen and paper for lists, calendar, reminders (post-its are still a #1 office supply). Something about just writing it down on paper...I don't think I could ever give that up!

  5. If I really want to get something accomplished, a list made out with paper and pencil is the way to go! It just feels great to pick up a pencil, and cross out something on the list.

  8. I like the PC. The laptop is convenient at times though. Hubby has an iTouch and iPad he can't live without. I'm not overly fond of either. My daughter and two older sons have iPhones. Hubby and I have Trac Phones and no desire to upgrade.

I guess I'm 80/20 on technology vs. paper. I'd rather type it out than write it. :)

Visiting/following today from the Meet & Greet hop.
